is a feature that enables a virtual environment to automatically balance itself across your ESX host servers in a cluster in an effort to eliminate resource contention. Here are the steps to enable DRS on a cluster using vSphere Web Client:

• Report Inappropriate Content. Add a virtual DVD/CDROM drive to the configuration of the VM (even if you have one). It does not even need to be in the 'Connected' state at the VM and it does not need to have an ISO file. I found that without a virtual DVD/CDROM drive as part of the virtual hardware configuration of the VM, the 'Install/Reinstall VMware Tools' get disabled/greyed out (in both Fusion and Workstation Pro).
• You will notice Vmware-tools-distrib folder on the Desktop. Now hit Ctrl+Alt+T to launch the Terminal. Navigate to vmware-tools-distrib folder that you have just extracted. $ cd Desktop/vmware-tools-distrib. Run the following command to install VMware tools: $ sudo./vmware-install.pl -f. While installation, press Enter to accept the defaults. After the installation gets complete, reboot your Ubuntu machine.

to enable DRS.To verify DRS functionality, go to the Summary page of your cluster. You should see the vSphere DRS panel:Notice that the gauge shows that the cluster is imbalanced. To display DRS recommendations, go to Monitor > vSphere DRS
